"The Crisis At Cal, Its Origins, and What Can Turn It Around."

The state budget crisis is hurting millions of Californians, and is taking a particular toll on the public university system. Students at the UCs have been hit with a 32% rate increase, bringing University tuition fees to over $10,000.  Furthermore, class reductions, staff and faculty furloughs, and other cuts are compromising the quality of undergraduate education.  Students are responding with demonstrations, but are these demonstrations having an effect?
