"Hello hello! My name is Nailah Pigott (she/her), and I am a junior transfer student at UC Berkeley! I am double majoring in Political Economics and French. This is my first semester as a conduct committee advisor. I chose to apply for the conduct committee because our spaces should be safe and inclusive for all. I hope to help nurture a culture of respect and support by serving as a conduct committee advisor. Reason for Joining the Conduct Committee: I have always been fixated on principles and questions of justice. From being OCD all my life, to my school work of theories of morality to even having most of my formative adolescence having been in the Tumblr Wild West, the issue of ethics has been something that has occupied my thoughts. When I found out about Conduct Committee, I felt that if I could do a job that others would be find too trying or spiritually draining that would uphold the dignity of my fellow house members and advance the mission of restorative justice, that would both be work that I could take pride in while also being a privilege to hold. I hope that through my work I have assisted others who have suffered through personal traumas and that I have dissuaded even slightly the hopelessness and resignation that often takes hold when people lose faith in their communities.
Fun fact about me: I'm kind of like if a girl had a terrible curse.

Each year, city and campus partners convene a Kick Off meeting in the spring (and others as needed) to jointly prepare for the Cal Move Out period that typically begins after finals in mid May. Staffers, student leaders and community organizations all collaborate on outreach and education about available resources to make the year's student move out more sustainable — and mitigate the negative impact on city streets and the waste stream. (More about Cal Move Out is below.). At our kick-off meeting, we build off of previous years' successes, partnerships and challenges to lay the groundwork for an even more sustainable *and safer) Move Out.
Student leaders are also on track to host Cooperative Reuse, the furniture and household item recycling program again this year!
This year from the campus side:
- Finals end May 10. Commencement is May 11. For some, Move Out begins!
- It's happening! Cooperative Reuse (furniture recycling, managed by students), staged at Clark Kerr for the 6th year. Dates are May 17 to May 28 ish
- Cooperative Reuse is led by Tatum Hurley, Zero Waste Fellow, Office of Sustainability (OS), Chair, Zero Waste Coalition; Tiffany Mar Zero Waste Coalition Vice Chair; and Sylvia Cheeseman, Zero Waste Coalition Education Chair with support from GCR, OS and SERC. Check out the Cal Move Out instagram for inspiration.
- Goodwill will be back again this year to collect small household items, books, clothes, small electronics.
- Chipman Moving has again donated professional moving services to collect reusable household items from student households and deliver them to Clark Kerr.
- Mattress recycling at Clark Kerr in partnership with Mattress Recycling Coalition
- The 2024 Move Out Student Coalition will meet soon and is co-convened by Tatum Hurley and with leadership by ASUC EAVP Alex Edgar’s Local Affairs Director Nick Grosch and the Local Affairs team. The Coalition manages outreach and supports all Move Out/Cooperative reuse activities and operations.

Central Food & Supplies
Starting in Summer: Dump Run Coordinator
10 hrs./wk.
Schedule dump runs with unit-level Habitability Coordinators at each unit.
Drive the dump truck to houses, advise members on how to properly load the truck, and help load the truck if necessary.
Drive the dump truck to the Berkeley Transfer Station.
Summer: Summer Delivery Coordinator
12 hr./wk.
Must be able to drive a truck and have a valid CA license and clean driving record.
Go on Costco runs (and other vendors) with workshifters .
Must be available for two 6 hour shifts or three 4-hour shifts, ideally in afternoons.
Cooperative Experience/Member Resources
17 hrs./ wk.
Preference will be given to former house managers.
Provides support for and assistance to the Member Resources Coordinator in their duties, including
the organization and development of training programs, New Member Orientation, NASCO Institute,
correspondence and research, clerical support and budget monitoring.
Member Education
May be combined with Health Worker Coordinator
8 hrs. / wk.
Promote individual and community health and a healthy environment in the BSC
Establish and coordinate unit and central-level trainings, referrals, and general health promotion and advocacy efforts
Host workshops and training.
May be combined with Health Education Coordinator
8 hrs. / wk.
Managing the BSC Health Worker Program.
Train, supervise, and support BSC health workers.
Development and Alumni Relations (On hold but accepting applications)
9-12 hrs./ wk. depending on applicant's availability
Design and publish printed information released by the BSC for fundraising and alumni organizing efforts.
Must be fluent in desktop publishing software (Adobe Creative Suite, InDesign, Quark, etc.) as well as Microsoft Word.
Write articles, conduct research, organize and archive materials, manage printing relationships.
15 hrs./wk.
Promote the BSC’s fundraising and alumni engagement goals!

- You should probably also take this time to spruce up your application. I made a page with some tips for filling out the application in a way that might get you interviewed.

If you didn't get one, it might have gone to a hidden folder like "Updates" or (hopefully not) Spam. If neither of those, I think you can use the application link and if you're on the same machine and still have cookies, it will allow you to edit it. If none of that works, email me what jobs you're interested in and we'll figure something out.
