Meal Contracts

Eat your meals at a co-op!!

Could massive fridges stocked full of dairy, meat, condiments, organic produce, and all of your other food needs available 24/7 be a dream come true? How about healthy and diverse dinners cooked for you every evening? And all for an affordable price!

Eating your meals at a co-op is a great way to experience co-op life without the full commitment of living there. Boarders also receive a partial seniority point for each semester of boarding which gives priority for housing assignment in future semesters.

Food

The fridges, freezers, and pantries of our houses are kept stocked with food ordered and delivered through the BSC Central Kitchen. If you have any requests for items not already stocked, simply tell the house kitchen manager and they can put it on the next order.

Kitchens

Delicious meals; cool people

All of our houses have professional kitchens stocked with cooking appliances that you are welcome to use anytime.

Dinner

Enjoy home cooked meals provided to you by other house members. Many of our houses provide dinners 5 to 7 days a week, with the exception of our largest house that provides breakfast as well!

Accessible

With 17 houses surrounding the campus to choose from, there is bound to be a co-op house near you! Several of our co-op houses are wheel-chair accessible (Kidd Hall, Wolf House, Andres Castro Arms, Convent, Sherman Hall and the Oscar Wilde House).

Community

With meals like this you can't go wrong

As a boarder, you are welcomed into the house community. The house community develops close bonds through eating, working and studying with housemates, sharing good times, and participating in group decision-making. Each co-op sponsors events like movie nights, live music, dances, house outings, intramural sports, and workshops on various topics.

Seniority

By boarding at a coop, you receive a partial seniority point per semester. This gives you priority in case you decide to move into a coop in the future. This priority helps you get into the coop house of your choice as well as the room of your choice. After boarding for six weeks, a boarder is automatically placed above all applicants who have never lived or boarded in the BSC previously.

Workshift

To keep the cost so low, you provide a few hours of work a week to the house. For more information about workshifts, check out the Workshift Information page.

Basil and tomatoes have always been a good combination

There are 3 boarding plans to choose from:

The three boarding plans we offer are :  five nights a week dinner contract, 7 night dinner contract, and full board contracts.  Boarders also are required to do workshift hours and earn a partial seniority point giving an edge for receiving a housing offer in a future semester.
