Football season is here, and UC-Berkeley kindly reminds students that they are subject to both the Student Code of Conduct and Fan Code of Conduct when attending home games. You can read the full list of guidelines here. In related news, a
new joint police patrol by the University of California Police
Department and the Berkeley Police Department will target improving
public safety at night in the city's Southside neighborhoods as well as
after UC Berkeley home football games. This unique patrol teams up two
squads: one city and one campus police officer who will patrol
neighborhoods near campus. The patrols will take place Thursday through
Saturday nights between 10 pm and 2 am. Additional teams will be
deployed before and after home football games. Officers will issue citations for loud and unruly parties or gatherings of
10 or more people that cause a significant neighborhood disturbance.
These citations carry fines ranging from $750 to $2500 for subsequent
violations during a 120-day period.

Workshift Accident Policy |
|
Here is a friendly reminder from your Member Advocate regarding the BSC-wide noise policy (from your contract):
“Rule (D) Peace and Quiet: Member agrees not to make any excess noise or create any nuisance such as will disturb the peace and quiet of other members or neighbors.” By signing your contract, you are agreeing to be held to this standard at all times (this is separate from house-wide “Quiet Hours”). While it may seem overbearing, it acts to provide a healthy living and study environment for all BSC students.
Talk to people who may be affected by your noise. If you have complaints about noise, be direct, try to problem-solve, and (if necessary) include management in conflict resolution. There are many central level resources available to help as well.

House Managers! You must let Margie know ASAP if there are any unfilled parking spaces in your lot, If so, you need to advertise in your neighborhood and give Margie a flyer to post next week. Delay and the house will have to pay for the space(s). You must accommodate house members first, other co-opers second, then you can fill the balance of your spaces with UC employees, merchants, neighbors. House member and Co-op member parking rates are $436 for covered spaces and $344 for open spaces. You can charge more than that to non-BSC members and keep the profit! - Thanks, Margie,
